Aquariums in Europe - Spain (Barcelona, Valencia, Zaragoza)
Arapaima collection in River Aquarium - Zaragoza: The Barcelona aquarium is extremely overrated: pretty small, crowded and expensive. They do have a few beautiful species - lionfish, jellyfish, cuttlefish - not often seen in aquariums, but compared to other aquariums from Europe is vastly inferior. Valencia's L'Oceanografic is expensive, but well worth the money. It is very large, well organized, you can spend a whole day there, and also includes a dolphin show. There are also exhibitions of birds, butterflies and other animals, very spacious aquariums and experts explaining different things. It is situated in the Ciudad de las Artes y las Ciencias area, a modern and very interesting complex, one of Valencia's tourist attractions. The Zaragoza aquarium (River Aquarium) was a very pleasant surprise, since I didn't expect to see so many interesting and spectacular freshwater species. It is very ...
